Left turns on red are not permitted because even though it is one way to one way, they are crossing a vehicle lane(the cycle track). This is expressly prohibited in the Alberta Traffic Code. Like I said, I've contacted Roads dept about this and their opinion is that a double red does enough, despite at numerous other locations also having a "no left on red" sign. They are sending mixed messages to drivers by not being consistent. I've almost been hit multiples times in this spot, so it obviously is not sufficient. I have also contacted my councillor, but I guess that wasn't enough either. I suggest bringing it up if you can, maybe if enough people do we can get it fixed. Or not, because f### the roads dept.
