It depends upon how you look at it. In terms of the number, then yes. But relative to the value of other contracts at the time they were signed, then no. Crosby's RFA deal is worth around $12 m in today's market. Factor in the current rules regarding back-diving deals, and the last big RFA offer-sheet to Shea Weber, and I don't think there is a chance McDavid comes in under $11.5 m.
