If I were the GM I would ask myself one important thing. Does adding Iginla hurt the team at all? If I, and my team, think that it doesn't hurt or hinder the team, then I would bring him in.
I wouldn't go out of my way to target him though. It would have to just happen naturally, like being one of the teams Iginla would accept a trade to and the GM approached me about the possibility.
At this point in Iginla's career, his on ice contributions would be similar to what Lanny provided in 1989.
As a fan, I would only want to see Iginla come back under the above scenario if he were to retire at the end of this year. Bringing him back only to have him go somewhere else would defeat the purpose of seeing him back. As a fan I'd only want him to return so he would retire playing his last game as a Flame.
For me, a return of Iginla is purely sentimental and only under certain conditions, and I wouldn't want Treliving to do make it happen if it could hurt the team's chances of winning games.
