That can't feel good. But you bring him home and let Johnny feed him on the power play and see if that doesn't put a spring in his step.
For ####s sake people, we once brought back Craig Conroy, just because. And then made him Assistant GM, just because!
Get Iginla for the stretch drive, and then kick him upstairs to close the arena deal.
This will cost nothing. It's an easy decision.

This post received a lot of thanks, and that's troubling. This post is beyond awful.
Craig Conroy was not brought in "just because". There were organizational needs and Conroy among other things is a good communicator. I assure you not even one member of the Flames executive would say Conroy was brought in "just because". That makes this such a silly post. But it got lots of thanks.
And it suggested that somehow having Iginla on the Flames payroll, which will happen after this season, gets a taxpayer funded arena. For those who thanked this awful post, salute yourselves, morons! (I'm trying to be mildly funny here despite the strong language.)
And if you're actually in the playoff hunt, you don't take on a player just because they were a great player in that generation -- that generation is no longer going to win you a cup. And I love Iggy. My favourite player of all time in fact.
Gaudreau feeding Iginla on the powerplay might be a good thing, but why experiment? Gaudreau is already climbing towards the numbers he hit last year after a slow start and then an injury. The team's positions are for those who can make things happen, and you don't take on a five million dollar Iginla unless he's producing, and he's, sadly, not.
Then the big irony of the post "it will cost nothing". That's because taking the salary on is a penalty of its own.
Iginla and Colbourne (to reference the post this commented upon) combine for 6 goals and 4 assists to date with a combined salary of 7.5 million? That is atrocious.
I really like both of them. But you only take Iggy on if you truly think he will suddenly become like he was in years past.
