I have made a point of watching him when I can, maybe 20-25 periods so far this season. He is still an asset - his shot hasn't gone away much, and still a tough customer, but he's more of a 'finisher' than anything right now. He doesn't drive the play, but he's a weapon once his teammates get it into the offensive zone.

His defensive game and passing skills have never been extraordinary, and now that he's lost a step he can't compensate like he used to.

Obviously very much still an NHL player, but I think any return back to Calgary at this point will end in disappointment

Edit: I should have also clarified - his teammates have been poopey. He's playing better than his stat line suggests. But if his linemates aren't successful, he doesn't seem able to put the play on his back and will the puck down the ice.
