Saying Gulutzan has changed his system is a farce. They are still doing short quick passes out of the defensive zone, moving as a 5 man unit. There is the odd occasion where they try to catch the opposing team cheating and hit Johnny with a stretch pass but the majority of the time it's a quick chip off the wall with the player receiving the puck moving it to a winger as fast as possible with the rest of the team quickly transitioning up the ice. Exact same thing they were doing from game 1. The difference is the players aren't constantly fumbling and bumbling the puck. Is that them learning the system or just the fact that our best players missed a lot of preseason? Who knows and who cares. I was one of the most vocal guys against Gulutzan but to say the recent success isn't a result of the system he has implemented is ridiculous. Stay Golden just eat your crow, it's delicious.
