Regardless of the nuts and bolts of the system, the most refreshing part of the coaching so far has been the willingness to adapt.

The lines have really gone through the blender a few times, and failed experiments didn't get pushed excessively hard. The clear starting goaltender lasted a quarter of the season before they altered the plan and rode the hot goalie. The PP took a little longer than I would have liked, but that's tough to place all on the coaches' shoulders - Johnny and the other stars were just not feeling it. The best part is that they didn't just revert to what worked last year, they found something better and went with it. It's the benefit of a fresh face behind the bench.

This season certainly had a lot to dislike at the beginning, and certainly part of the rebound has been the players buying in to the system. But there were coaching errors and failed experiments that were corrected, and that says a lot about the coaching attitude.
