in other words: I have an irrational hate for him and, now that the team is playing well, the only way I can justify it in my mind is to imagine/pretend that he has stopped acting like himself and is somehow trying to act like the guy I do like.

Gulutzan thought he could come into the league cocky and look at my guru system. And it was junk, a chaotic mess. Not to mention he kept effing with match-up that were pure stupidity.
He has abandoned all of that crap and went to what has worked before him, what works around the league when you have 2 reliable scoring lines and at least 3 mobile attacking defenders along with solid goaltending.
Yes Gulutzan got back to basics and if you can't see that then you are not paying attention to the last 20 years around the league.
Gulutzan was a rooster that thought he could come into the NHL and out fox the foxes. Well guess what if what to out smart the other teams you have to start by doing what is proven and coach to your teams strengths.
