We are seeing an example of what happens when a team continually sewers for high draft picks and doesn't draft particularly well and on top of that doesn't develop particularly well.
They end up with a team with zero depth, zero hope coming up from the prospect pool and because those high draft picks need to get paid and especially generational guys, they'll end up being a one line one blueline pairing bubble team at best who's only claim to fame is we got this generational guy, who's awesome but will leave when every team makes a play for him.
