You can also just take an old console like a Wii, Xbox, PS3 etc. that has HDMI out and hack them to put on custom firmware and loader with RetroArch. Chances are you might already have one of these things.
Plus, most of these can be fitted with big harddrives so you can basically have every single game released between 1975 to 2000+, even arcade games.
I love RetroArch for how much you can customize it. I have a filter/shader combination that actually looks like a proper CRT television (not just blurry scanlines, it's more like a crystal-clear Sony Trinitron with slight moire and glass distortion) while maintaining pixel perfect graphics over 1080p. I also have the thumbsticks mapped to different functions like rewind and fast-forward.
