If I thought my chances in the NHL were pretty much over, I'd way rather play in Austria/Switzerland/Germany or Finland/Sweden than Stockton.
I'm sure small towns and arenas in Europe aren't all that amazing and the language/cultural barriers would exist, but I think it sounds like a much more exciting opportunity than playing in some dump in the midwest.

100 percent agree. Thing is though that you have to be honest to yourself and accept that your NHL time has come to an end. I'm sure a lot of guys struggle to come to that realization if they've played in the league for years. Surely easier for tweeners and AHL journeymen to make that decision.
