I think that the Flames might feel that they can survive with only 13 healthy forwards when they're at home or on the west coast (i.e. near the farm team). The Flames play at home on Friday, then in Anaheim on Sunday (ugggh, just as the season was turning around) then in Dallas and Arizona later that week. The Flames have 13 healthy forwards up right now, so I don't think that this move means someone's return is imminent.
The Heat play Friday and Saturday in Stockton so any call ups for Sunday's game might be pretty tired but they won't have to go far. Sending Janko down banks a little cap space for later in the season as well. It's not much, but every little bit will count when the Flames are as close to the cap as they are.
