If you put a lot of weight in these, what does it say about Brodie?
It doesn't say much, because he used all situations stats, not 5v5. Bouwmeester has spent a lot of time on the PK compared to Hamilton and suffers for it. Here's career CF% at 5v5:

Hamilton 53.49%
Giordano 51.80%
Brodie 49.15%
Bouwmeester 49.08%

But what's really important is relative CF%, which shows how well you drive shot generation relative to your teammates. Here's those numbers at 5v5:

Giordano 3.91%
Brodie 3.85%
Hamilton 3.09%
Bouwmeester -2.28%

If you look around the league, Gio and Brodie are 6th and 7th, respectively in CF%.Rel among active d-men. Dougie does not lag far behind at 15th. (Jake Gardiner is 2nd, so who knows, maybe he actually is good)

Using both of these numbers you can reach a better conclusion than using either one. Brodie, Gio, and Hamilton all succeed at generating positive shot differentials within the roles that they play, where Bouwmeester has not.

You can look even deeper using CF60 (corsi events for per 60 minutes while a player is on the ice) and CA60 (corsi events againt per 60) to see how these players generate their shot differentials. Dougie has a high CF60 and a high CA60, he plays a high event game with lots of shots both ways. Gio is more of a shutdown guy, with correspondingly lower shots both for and against, but he still maintains a positive ratio.
