The Door Nazi description:

The busses in Rome are equipped with 3 or 4 doors. Not your regular Calgary Transit busses with a mere 2.
The busses in Rome were originally designed for people to enter from the front and back of the bus, and exit at the middle. In other words, your mission once on the bus, is to make your way to the middle of the bus before your stop arrives.
Nice in theory, not very do-able in real life. Busses get very full, and quite often there are people in wheelchairs or really old people that have neither the grace nor mobility to navigate a packed, moving bus.

Door Nazis are drivers that completely disregard this fact and refuse to open end doors at stops that have nobody getting on the bus.

My story:

The day of the metro crash, the trains stopped running on the red line. Busses were even more packed than usual. It was about 10 pm, and I was jammed against the back door of a bus that generally commutes people to the suburbs. Very few people get on this bus once it leaves the central station... Pretty much people just getting off the bus all the way down the line.

I rang the bell for my stop, and the driver only opened the two central doors. In my poor italian, I yelled to the driver to open the back door and was ignored.
At the next stop, I yelled again, as did a sweet little old lady who was well versed in italian swear words.
By the third stop, I was pretty ****ed off, and decided to open the door myself.
The people around me pushed back to make room for me to go haywire on the door by pulling the inside handle like a mental patient trying to escape an asylum.

I got the thing open and was helping the old lady off the bus (really, really old) when the bus driver started yelling from the front. The old lady handled it for me with a blue streak of curses, and the two of us had a little laugh after the bus pulled away (which was a good 30 seconds, as the door wouldn't close properly for a few tries).

****in Nazis. I hate them.
I feel better now.
Go Old Lady GO!!!!
