I called Enmax and they are providing me with a $100 credit on my next bill.

What I find interesting is that I was on a 5 year fixed rate for Electricity at $0.089 (I now switched to floating). Compare that to the floating rate of $0.038 plus $0.01 transaction fee. My own fault as I only ever checked my usage and the resulting total amount due rather than the rate I was being charged (I assumed I was on floating already).

If I was on the floating rate for electricity last month my bill would have been $55.22 less. Enmax's defense for the high 5 year fixed rate was that I at least get a $8 refund each month for being on the 5 year fixed rate. I find this insulting once you spend a little time crunching the numbers. Although I understand that the floating rate can still go above the fixed rate.

Does anyone know if Atco's distribution and transmission charges are lower? Once I get the credit from Enmax I think I'm going to switch to Atco Energy anyways.
