Its funny. In my early 20's I was of the opinion that I was going to move to a "better" city like Toronto or Vancouver, where there was more going on. This was intensified after university when I went travelling for a while, but then during the 2000's, Calgary turned into much more of a cosmopolitan place, and when I entered my 30's, I realized I absolutely loved it again.
I live in Edmonton now, but I would say I'll live in Calgary again at some point - too many friends and family, and good times to be had there. However, I'll probably retire elsewhere, somewhere with more temperate weather (a sentiment I used to make fun of but as I get more grey it becomes more appealing).
That said, it is an absolutely life opportunity to live elsewhere for a while. Do it if/when you can. You learn so much about yourself, and even more about what Calgary is to you.
