Remind me again that this last draft, where we took Pld over Jesse, and now seeing that Tkachuk has 5 goals and 4 assist in 17 games , was the right move . Totally was oblivious to what Tkachuk had done this season .

Good Guy Torts

After meeting Torts yesterday I got a call from the owner of my store (who is friends with Torts' wife) who told me that Torts got me two free tickets for the game tonight. I've only been able to see one game on tv this year due to a lack of cable so I'm extremely excited to finally see my team in person this year.

I'm starting to get concerned. A see a trend emerging where we play to the perceived level of our competition.

Monahan is beating cbj up on the faceoffs

They only managed to get set up in the 1-3-1 twice, I think, and the only decent opportunities came off of those instances. I feel like they still have an issue entering the zone on PPs and especially getting set up, which I think is just a small flaw with the 1-3-1 – there’s no extra man back at the point so there’s less pressure release valves until you get set up.
It kind of emphasized the importance of faceoffs in the offensive zone on PPs – sure, faceoffs aren’t important long term but I think especially in those situations, with this system, they’re valuable. The one I remember them winning resulted in almost immediately getting set up in the 1-3-1 and getting some good movement, if nothing else.

Sucks that two brutal turnovers lead to both their goals. Also what's with Johnson owning Columbus? I think he is now 5-0 and his GAA and SV% is solid.

They were forcing things way too much. Focusing too much on improving the stats that are "underwhelming", and not playing the game that worked when they were winning. Get back to that CBJ, or this season will get turned on it's head real fast. Tonight was a disaster against a team that should have been an easy win. Sigh

Easily the worst game of the season. Probably worst game since the beginning of last season. Bad discipline, bad passes, bad shots. A lot of calls didn't go our way sure, but that's not an excuse for the terrible play as a whole tonight. Let's hope the guys can click together during the road trip.
