Power Surge
Heading into Friday's game vs. the Jackets, The Wild power play was meandering along at a paultry 7% success rate.
After the game, the powerplay now sits second in the entire CPHL.
So yes - the Wild had a good night with the extra man. 6/9 in fact.
The Wild rode the strength of their special teams to a 7-5 win over Columbus and remain unbeaten in 5 games.
Peter Bondra finally broke out with a 1 goal, 3 assists performance. Hank Zetterberg, Paul Kariya, Kim Johnsson, Nik Kronvall (with his first CPHL goal), Scott Gomez, and Rusty Klesla also had goals in the victory. Head coach Andy Murray said it was good to see Bondra get back on track.
"Peter has been putting too much pressure on himself. Tonight we juggled things up and to try a different line for him and clearly it worked. We are also encouraged by what we are seeing from our power play now. Though we still have to tighten up defensively...giving up far too many goals right now."
