THRASHERS DEFEAT AVALANCHE 2-1 IN OVERTIME

The Atlanta Thrashers rebounded from their first defeat of the season by getting back on the winning track Friday Night. The Thrashers travelled to Colorado and beat the Avalanche by a score of 2-1 in OT to improve their record to 5-1-0.
Bryan Smolinski tipped a Radek Martinek slapshot by goaltender Jocelyn Thibault at the 1:18 mark of overtime to give the Thrashers the win. Mike Richards opened the scoring for the Thrashers in the 2nd period before Mikael Holmqvist tied it up for the Avalanche with a shorthanded goal.
The Thrashers next travel to Winnipeg to take on the Jets. It will be the second meeting of the season between the two clubs as the Thrashers defeated the Jets 4-3 earlier this season.
