Heaven (IMO) was created partially to encourage moral behaviour, partially to control behaviour (see organized religion), and partially (probably the earliest people) because survival instincts within us have us believing that there can simply not posibly be an end. The survival instinct in us is so strong, we cannot believe that we would ever truly die.
And even as I say I 'know' that, I must admit I have my own version of heaven too. Though not the kissing lesbians, been there, done that. And there was a lot more going on then kissing, and I wasn't just spectating.
