I thought that when the two referee system was implemented, this sort of LAZY penalty would be addressed in greater detail. Obviously, that is not the case. On Tuesday night, Gaudreau was slashed on the hands at total of 21 times by such 'elite' players as Ryan Suter Eric Staal, etc.(Thanks to Darren Haynes and his excellent article in his blog "Flames from 80 Feet above"). Now Gaudreau is gone, the estimate is between 4 and 6 weeks last word that I heard. When is the league and players association going to get together on this and make sure that penalties are called. Not only are these types of penalties lazy, I would go further and say that it is a deliberate attempt to injure. Bettman, direct the officials to be harsh and strict on these types of penalties, players association direct your players to show mutual respect towards each other. It is NOT part of the game, something CAN and MUST be done dammit!!!
