I don't hate him in the same way I hate other TV villains, and maybe that will change in time...or get worse, I'm not sure. It's just that his swagger and the way he talks is starting to become a little too much, and it's overshadowing how incredibly evil he is.

Yeah he's almost becoming more comical than evil and I don't believe that's what they are intending. This quote from a buddyTV article says it best;

He's not there to be a fully-fledged character or anything close to resembling a human being. Negan exists to be hated and that is most lazy thing that The Walking Dead could do with a villain.
