This thread has potential to approach the levels of the Beyond.ca claw guy manhunt!

Best of luck with CTV. I've had my share of hassles with condo defects that arise after the 1 year period. I think it's a pretty ridiculous period and we need to have longer home warranties like we have on all other products.

At about the 13 and 14th month mark of my condo, right after the home warranty expired:
  • All closet coat hanger bars and shelving failed. The contractor chose to use plastic struts for the closet shelves which were connected to the bars. These struts snapped in half after a year with average load. Everything collapsed. I hear it happened to every unit.
  • Fancy dishwasher failed. Expensive fix outside of 1 year warranty. Decided not to bother and have used it as a fancy drying rack and storage since.
  • Radiator control valve failed. The electronic unit that the thermostat control activates to open and close the valves that let hot/cold water into the radiator system stopped moving. It had to be replaced and all the radiators opened.
  • A month after the radiator problem, the whole HVAC system failed. The PLC controller in the closet that controls the thermostat units and fans for the air vents failed. Replacing the fuse does nothing, it won't power on. I haven't had heat for 5 months. It's now winter so I guess I better get this fixed.

All of these are expensive fixes.
