Hey, another massive organizational failure from the Flames' suits, as they are unable to protect their best player from a clear and ongoing problem. Whaddya know?
I don't know what Gulutzan was doing about it, but I can tell you what he WASNT doing (i.e. Getting mad, getting on the refs, having his players retaliate, putting muscle on Gaudreau's line, etc etc), and I can also tell you how effective Gulutzan's interventions were.
But hey, it takes AT LEAST 20 games of learning systems before a coach can tell his players to take a few runs at somebody. And of course this roster just might not be talented enough to swing a stick at somebody in retaliation. Any other excuses we want to give for this latest coaching failure? Gaudreau's new contract broke his hand? His hand broke because Monahan missed training camp? Look at this list of other coaches who did nothing to protect their star players the first 16 games of the season but then went on to success?
