This has to do with people saying protesting is dumb when the stakes are non-existent for that person.

The sheer amount of moral confusion in that post... FML.
Protesting this election isn't dumb.
The "stakes" are extremely high for literally everyone regardless of their race, gender or sexual preference. However, they are certainly higher for some people than others (though I'd argue that the effect is likely to be more pronounced across class than race, not that the two don't overlap).
Most importantly, whether protesting a thing is "dumb" or not has nothing whatsoever to do with the "stakes" for the person who's suggesting the protest is or isn't dumb. The dumbness of a protest does not vary with the person observing the protest. This is post-modernist bull####.
Finally, millions of people just told you they're sick of being told they're privileged, sick of being told they're not adequately racially sensitive if they're not outraged by the Cleveland Indians logo or they're misogynists if they like the SI swimsuit issue or they're awful, subhuman monsters if they don't think that every black man shot by a police officer is essentially a lynching. If you swing the pendulum even further, and double down on those politics, then yes, it's not exactly crazy to predict that we're headed for eight years of Trump.
