Maybe its the style of the game now, but it just seems so passionless and meh. I think that the moves to improve offense (which really hasn't improved the offense) have taken the heart of the game (and no I'm not talking about fighting). There's no passion or fire right now.

I think a lot of people are in the same boat, myself included.
The NHL has lost something since the lockout in 2004/2005. Whether we as fans want to admit it or not, for many of us the game was not viewed as a business before that point. Since then it has become a very big business and when that happens, it tends to make people realize that paying large costs for tickets, beer, merch etc isn't all it's cracked up to be. Especially when continuous price increases are designed to deepen millionaires pockets. Finally, we are not getting the same kind of edge of your seat physical game that we used to see with the more recent rule changes. For many people this is probably a big reason they became fans in the first place.
I still enjoy the game but I'm certainly not going above and beyond to attend/watch every game I can anymore.
