Thing is frolik was free and we paid a handsome price for dougie. That raises expectations and on paper he was what this team needed to elevate to the next level.

I just don't see the fire in him that you see in doughty, Keith and seabrook. That's the type of defenceman that cup winning teams have. This may be harsh but I see bouwmeester v 2.0 and the parallels are not dissimilar. We brought in bouw with much fanfare and it turned out to be a step back.

Can't also wonder if the chemistry has been disrupted in the locker room. We had a bunch that played for each other and that seems to have been lost. Not on dougie as he's not in charge of personnel but I think the mix may not be right. Fortunately Burke has shown an ability to pivot in moves in the past (and I'm assuming he's support and guide Treliving on this) and cut bait on moves that haven't worked out (see versteeg in Toronto)
