Race exists, and racism still exists. It'd be wonderful to live in a world where race wasn't an issue in our society, but we don't live in that world and ignoring it only helps perpetuate inequality not fix it.
Sometimes the media gets it right and only holds up a mirror so society can see itself. Sometimes it's manipulated to misrepresent what people see.
They do have initiatives that help everyone, Clinton proposed lots of them. How many people believed that vs. Trump saying falsely that Clinton was going to take their guns away? People aren't rational actors.
