Right, automation and technology have always been the biggest reason for declining jobs in America and around the world, not free trade or other boogeymen. Labour intensive jobs are costly when labour is such a big expense. People in America aren't working for $4 an hour, and companies will look to one time expenses like robotics rather than consistently rising employee wages. Pretty much nothing can be done to reverse this. Best case is you make the cost of living much lower so people can survive on $4 an hour. But most people won't make the sacrifices to make it work.
