Over the last couple of days I've calmed down and tried to understand why people voted the way they did. The Michael Moore video describing how Trump was literally the only mainstream politician who even gave lip service to the rust belt I found very interesting and poignant. It provided me additional empathy for those people that voted for Trump.
However, those are not the people that were at the Trump rallies yelling "lock her up" or "execute her". Those are not the people who spew racist, xenophobic, sexist, vile, ignorant things.
Trump has given a mandate to these idiots, whether he meant to or not. Just like many on the right like to say that moderate Muslims should be standing up to extremists, moderate Trump supporters who aren't idiots but legitimately hurting need to stand up to these clowns.
