Why would he win? The biggest complaint is that the choices sucked. More people would vote, because you wouldn't have to hold your nose and vote for someone you didn't like. Trump wouldn't have gotten a lot of the Republican base because he isn't conservative or religious. Those votes would have bled off elsewhere.

In a group of 10 Trumps 20% "deplorables" could form the majority. We got in this mess because establishment republicans couldn't pick between 4 guys so trump won the split. I think as much as many were holding their noses there is a minority that happily voted for trump.
