All the time spent by liberal leaning people in the media and on social media attacking Trump for his alleged sexism, racism, bigotry, and ignoring actual policy have all aided in Trump becoming president.
Clinton and her useless campaign lead this charge. Actually let me back up a little; the Democratic party which was in the tank for Hilary (proven with leaked emails) who decided to do everything in their power to get Hilary nominated over Bernie started this mess. This was an election that was likely to break for a populist. Instead of putting up a Populist with true liberal ideas and policies, a humanist who spent his life actually serving people and not themselves, we got the most unlikable liberal politician in America.
So we have this career driven, me first, career politician who's nearly as unlikable as a total bigot like Trump. So what do they do? They attack Trump and his "character" over and over instead of letting Trump open his dumb mouth and do it for them. So you have all these middle class people who haven't had a raise in over a decade with no one on the democratic side talking to them, telling them what their policy is, just saying over and over "Trump is bad, is racist, etc". But he's the one telling them how he will fix, even if it's not totally credible. They think he cares and she's just a career politician who's in it for her and no one else.
This result looks good on progressive liberals who did everything they could to see Clinton get in over a better qualified and far more principled person in Bernie Sanders.
