Mark Rippetoe basically recommends taking whatever you are eating and then drinking a gallon of milk through the day. Combine that with a 5x5 and you'll put on mass.
The fact of the matter is that if you're not gaining mass, you aren't eating enough. It's that simple. I used to to struggle to gain mass too. I found the trick was to eat 5 meals a day (real meals, a protein shake doesn't count). I would eat a tuna melt right before bed. Did that for 3 months straight and put on 20 lbs, despite being stuck at a plateau for years.
