Ugh. Yes. There's a big difference between someone actually being bad at calling hockey and having a grating voice - you can be annoying and still call a good game, it's just some people won't be able to listen to you do so. Emrick is like that for a lot of people, though I think you can just get used to him.
But the Caps broadcasters are the worst for this. They sound so fake, like they're trying to put on some bad-ass affect to their voices. Beninati sounds like a 130 lb dude trying to make his high-pitched voice sound gravelly and tough because HOCKEY IS FOR REAL MEN. Laughlin, meanwhile, sounds like he's had some sort of medical episode that's left him with a speech impediment that makes it really hard for him to get syllables out. Every word sounds like a huge effort, it's exhausting to listen to.
