In many ways he represents a very concentrated version of the core dilemma. We don't want to give up our great quality of life, nor do we want to deny that from others... but what can be done?

I thought the movie was actually quite good. I didn't enjoy the credibility it lent the Sierra Club, or that it did not mention Nuclear power a single time, but the message is largely on the mark and his speech at the end was excellent.
And this is slacktivism at its core. The very reason we are in a country that wants its high carbon lifestyle, but shame and block the very industry that allows it to live.

I for one am quite annoyed with the Kony generation that won't actually do anything to alter their life to support the solution they preach. Leo, Neil Young, David Suzuki are all on the "what can you do?" train and have no intention of helping to fix anything (well as long as it doesn't mean less for them)

You know what would be impactful? Saying that you only do teleconference from your home. Saying you will only vacation places you can bike or drive a solar car to. People respect actions. Instead we have Leo on mega yachts.

Problem is these Tides funded slacktivists have no intention of doing that. They view it as they made a movie, they made a speech, they have done their part. Meanwhile a guy like me who walked into work for 10 years and lives in a smaller house than needed gets dumped on because I worked for evil oil.

Sorry but eff Leo. The day he walks the talk like I did is the day he gets my respect.
