The biggest problem with Bouma is that he can provide something this team needs and they need him for that, but he's such a big possession anchor and that doesn't look like that's ever going to change. That's probably the way he'll always be, for better or worse.
I think a big reason why he's such an anchor possession wise is because he does not hold onto the puck very well and doesn't have enough offensive skill to be that kind of player.
No matter which line or who he plays with, it seems unfortunately that he is a big reason why his line sinks his possession wise when he plays more often than not.
Gotta take the good with the bad regarding Bouma because he can provide something for this team that good advanced stats cannot appreciate, and at least it's much better having him as our worst possession anchor because at least he can play NHL calibre hockey as opposed to Brandon Bollig who can't play a regular NHL shift at all.
