This much overreaction shouldn't come after what was ultimately a fairly close game. Calgary gave up 2 goals on 5v3's essentially, cant expect to make it out of those safely. If the PP had connected ONCE (and it definitely could have, they got some good chances) then we're probably going to OT.
The Flames haven't been that bad this year. Decent at 5v5. PP is killing them, but if they were 3 for 22 instead of 1 for 22 we'd probably be 3-2 and complaining about how the refs (and Grossmann and wideman) conspired to lose us the first two games.
What I don't like is how inactive the defense are. When a Gio or Brodie picks up the puck in the d zone, he should turn on the jets and lead the rush himself, dump it in and go forecheck. Very few of the Flames' forwards have food puck retrieval skills, so the defensemen should be used when safe.
Also, goddamn, fix the PP.
Also, Ferland is not a plug. He has the skill to play in the top 9 and contribute on both sides of the puck. His hitting is a bonus and while we'd all like to see him lay people out more often, it's not required for him to do a good job.
