Talk is Cheap

“It’s not a whole-game issue — it’s just slight breakdowns here and there,” Elliott said after the Flames’ latest setback. “And it starts with me. I have to make a save here and there, too, to keep us in it. It’s hard coming back from these games, when you spot ’em a couple goals early and you’re always working from behind.”

“The easy thing is to get frustrated and to put your head down and hang your head a little bit,” Elliott said. “But what got us all here, to this league, is perseverance and that relentless attitude that no matter what happens, we’ll get it done. We keep that going and a good attitude, and we’ll be OK.”

“A couple of times, our power play had chances to bail us out ... and we didn’t get anything. It took a lot of life out of us,” said Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan. “I think our confidence is lost maybe on our power-play, and that’s what we have to get back. To me, that’s the focal point — getting a bit of mojo on that and getting some run support for our goalie.”

“I think it’s more frustrating right now,” said Flames alternate captain Sean Monahan. “I mean, we’re working hard, it’s just we have to get on the same page here. Some things aren’t going as well as they should be, and we have to get on the same page and work together here.”
