Why not?
-Hamilton is already ahead of Trouba in terms of development, and Trouba took a step back last year
-Hamilton is already signed to a contract with reasonable numbers. It sounds like Trouba's ask is pretty large, especially if he stays in Canada
-Speaking of asks, it sounds like the Chevy and the Jets are trying to make a point about this trade and are asking for the stars and the moon.
-Even if it was a straight up trade, it's at best a lateral one. We lose a top 3-4 defenseman now to gain - maybe - a top 3-4 defenseman
-Dougie wants to be here, I don't think Trouba does
Don't get me wrong, I like Trouba and I think he is going to rebound into a gritty #3 guy with skillful upside. I just don't understand how trading away a big skillful defenseman, who is starting to show signs that he recognizes his size and strength, for that makes the Flames better now and in the future.
