Chad Johnson on the Flames slow start

“Still, we can tighten up as a group,” Johnson said. “We had some breakdowns there where guys were coming straight down. Again, I said this at the start, it’s going to take us a bit of time for us to be comfortable with the systems. It’s a process.

“I saw (the Flames) last year so I think there’s a little bit of hesitation right now defensively. Again, it’s only going to get better as the season goes on.”

“I think that people that know hockey know there is an adjustment period with a new coach and with new systems,” netminder Chad Johnson said after stopping 30 of 31 shots in the losing effort. “We all want to come out right away and be as strong as the Chicago Blackhawks and the L.A. Kings. But they’ve been together for five or six years with the same coach and the same systems. There’s an adjustment period, especially for this group. Everybody has to be patient. We have to be patient. Everyone knows that the players and the organization — we want to do well.

“We want to win. Again, there’s a process.”
