We should all be concerned for the safety of the public in the Vancouver region today due to the remnants of Super Typhoon Songda.

The storm has already been directly responsible for one death, that of a fifteen year old boy in Surrey.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the league was considering postponing this game.

If they do play tonight, think about what the Flames might have had to endure simply to get to Vancouver.

Think about how tired the Flames players and coaching staff might be while they play a rested team of professional athletes that are all good enough to be playing this great game of hockey at the NHL level.

I won't be surprised if our favourite team loses. Further, I won't be surprised if they lose big. Nor should any of you.

In fact, I think the team's play this year - of what is just a game - will have the fan forum moderators working overtime. In fact, I will boldly predict that the moderators will be much busier this year than any year since 2000 when CalgaryPuck first came into being.

Now might be a good time to consider making a donation to the site. The owners of the site, and the volunteer moderators who work only to keep all discourse civil, will appreciate it.

It is supposed to be fun for the owners...a hobby.

If a hobby becomes...not fun...for you, wouldn't you stop doing it? You would lose.

If this stops becoming fun for the owners, we all lose.

I made a donation this morning for the reasons stated above.

And if you are reading this, and it isn't too late, think about all of the above before posting the usual conspiracy theory tripe about bad refereeing and bad coaching after the game tonight, or any night.

If nothing else, think about that fifteen year old boy and his family while you watch or listen to the game.
