Two bad giveaways leading to goals is a lot of damage for only 11 minutes ice time and I don't hate the guy but he was garbage last night end of story.

The first one is inexcusable, no doubt, terribly dumb play. The second one was nearly 200ft from the net and if makes the pass this place goes crazy for him. He attempted a pass in front of the offensive net, it was a good play with bad reaults. The fact that the rest of the Flames decided to take that play off is not on him. Outside of that he actually played a decent game. Nobody sees it because that is what this place does. Oh no, Gross-man...
Now, I still question him being out there against a small speedy team but he was far from the main factor in this loss. Put him out against LA or Winnipeg sure but Kulak and Jokkipaka should get the majority of games simply for the fact that their skating keeps them in more plays.
Versteeg to me looked good, rusty and not familiar with his line mates sure but I think there is something there to work with. Made some nice passes, has great hands and if that shot goes in it was probably a different game last night. I still think he is out best option on the top line.
Just a crappy first game of the season.
