The revised contract eliminates the injury guarantee that was connected to his $14.5 million salary in 2017. On Tuesday, after he was named the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Bills, Kaepernick said he felt “no pressure” to sign the contract before he played in Buffalo.
He also said he didn’t know if his injury guarantee is the reason he didn’t replace Gabbert earlier.
“I really don’t know,” Kaepernick said. “You’d have to ask the people upstairs about that.”
