Oh I disagree.
I find that many US restaurants try to make up for quality by focusing on quantity. While I find this specifically for those restaurants that consider themselves casual dining, it is also the same for high end places as well.
I really struggle to identify a single country that has provided me with "the best meals I have had".
I have had great food in the US, Canada, Mexican street vendor, South Africa, Italy, it goes on and on.
It really falls to each individual restaurant (but I know you know that).
