Let's just hope Gulitzan works out better in Calgary than he did in Dallas and little Johnny tones down his contract demands before the season starts because cracking on low-hanging fruit than patting yourself on the back about it may be the least of your concerns
Congratulations on doing the typical Oiler deflection thing and trying to make this about the Flames.

I'm not bragging on behalf of the Flames puddin, or doing a comparison here. I'm just telling you the fact, that your team is horrible, will continue to be horrible, will be horrible for a long time.

That has nothing to do with the Flames.

The only thing that I firmly believe is that Oiler fans have witnessed unholy bad hockey for so long that they have gone into this state of denial which adds up to any change being an awesome, spectacular, shiny pony level of change. They live in a world of delusion where one player even if he is a very good player will suddenly propel that pile of stank that is the Oilers to becoming a competitive team, because you believe that there is some kind of weighted balance point that makes him balance out how tremendously bad, badly put together, badly designed and badly outfitted that team to the north is.

That has nothing to do with the Flames.

We as fans here aren't lying to ourselves, we know that the team completely stank out last year due to a combination of bad goaltending, bad coaching, holes in the lineup, poor management decisions etc. I don't see Flames fans making excuses or lying to themselves about it, and sitting here with a whole silly line of logic about injuries being the problem, when the problem is that the Oilers are so thin and realistically crappily built and badly drafted outside of top 5 picks that if a single player blows a hangnail that your team is done. We don't ignore bad players and come up with the last 4 successive coaches ruined that player.

But Oiler fans like you do, and no amount of pharmaceutical drugs, or regression therapy or electro-shock therapy can fix that for you. For you ABOil, down is up, low is high, and everything needs to be deflected.

This isn't about a comparison of the Flames to the Oilers (Frankly as bad as we are though, its funny that we're still better then the badly built, and managed and stocked and coached team to the North), its about the Oilers in a vacuum that's so bad that no other franchise in history no matter how bad can even look at it with sympathy anymore.

The proper thing to do frankly, is to treat the new building up North like an ancient pyramid. Hustle the Oiler players and management team and coaching staff into the building and seal all the exits. And then for the next several thousand years, allow tourists who cheer for other teams to point at that building and say, this is the ancient pyramid of tremendous no good, and incompetence and laugh. And then we can send in archeologists to study it and explore it and tell us stories that this is like the roman empire, a mysterious and somewhat stupid group of people who managed through laziness, entitlement, stupidity and incompetence deserved to fade from history and only be remembered in relation to chortles, guffaws and outright laughter.
