I believe that the Oilers forward group is going to be worse this year. You have some nice depth at center, in McDavid Draisaitl (even though he pulled a great disappearing act last year in the second half) and Hopkins. But suddenly after Lucic (slow and aging) and Eberle (1 way softer then really nice 3 ply butt paper). Your wings suddenly look sub par, and slow, but OMG Chia reached into the past because he wanted Truculance.
Sure you're better on the blueline, but compared to the real competitors in the West, its not even close to a good blueline.
Look, I like Russell he's a great guy, but as a blueliner, he's a real great guy. Outside of Larsson, and who knows what you're going to get there, its still not a great blueline or even a average blueline.
Its great that you guys blundered into McDavid, its awesome, but you Oilers fans are starting to sound like Flames fans when we had Iggy, who was one of the best players in the game and not much else. And we had this belief that one player could turn the tides. But guess what? It didn't, and the Oilers are in the same boat. McWenis alone won't be able to turn the tide for that train wreck you call a team. Sure on some nights he might make you believe it, but overall, your team is going to be to weak, have too many passengers, have an over reliance on "toughness", a meh blueline an over taxed goalie and a massively over rated coach to fight against.
Accept your fate, that your team is just institutionally bad, poor, meh, nertz, terrible, horrible and frankly no damn good. Learn to live with it, take up a hobby like making phallus type statues out of clay or making lego ships in bottles and everything will be ok.
