Of course, this is the public story. They could have just given up on him becoming a productive player, and wanted to salvage some value. In that case, carry on with how you've been doing things. But I feel that this polite, classy image has not been helping the Flames whatsoever when it comes to all the contracts we've passed out lately.

If Sven told the Flames he wouldn't sign and would return to Europe then trading him WAS the right move. Class has nothing to do with it.
Getting the second allowed them to more easily trade for Hamilton and they used the second to get Rasmus
