Brad traded Sven because the Flames wanted to be the nice guy and trade him after he said that he'd refuse to re-sign, as far as I remember. Classy move, but not a great hockey move.
Of course, this is the public story. They could have just given up on him becoming a productive player, and wanted to salvage some value. In that case, carry on with how you've been doing things. But I feel that this polite, classy image has not been helping the Flames whatsoever when it comes to all the contracts we've passed out lately.
