I'm getting kind of sick of the "classy" image the Flames have been cultivating over the last few seasons with Brad at the helm. It should be the right way to do things, but the results of this policy haven't exactly been rewarding. It cost the Flames Sven and it doesn't seem to help make contract negotiations any easier. Monahan and Hamilton both signed market value contracts, at worst. I will admit that Giordano took a bullet for the team though. Johnny's contract negotiation has been a farce so far, there is no good reason why a team with the cap space to sign their players doesn't have their opening night roster ready to go at the start of pre-season. I think classy and polite should be the way to do things in life but it certainly doesn't seem to be a good strategy when it comes to managing a hockey team. Brad had a responsibility to get down to business this summer and make sure that this team would be 100% to start the season. Wideman is still here, there's no solution at #1RW, and Johnny still hasn't signed.
These problems should have been fixed a long time ago. The Bennett contract and Elliot extenson, and well as expansion draft preparation should be what is occupying the GM's time now. What happened to the 2014-15 Brad who could do no wrong?
