As a matter of fact, yes! I used to own a '96 Jetta, it was my first car and really started my fandom of the brand. I had that thing for 7 years, never once did my door locks give me an issue. The funny this is though, my parents had a '91 Passat at the time and my keys could unlock and start their vehicle, as well as the other way around.
